It is a bit hard for everyone to describe in an exaggerating manner. An exaggeration is where you describe every bit of the surrounding in detail. Such posts develop an interest in the person who is reading them and sound much better than such posts, that depict a very feeble attempt to describe. Example-
::Cho walked into the Great Hall. She sat down at the Ravenclaw table and looked around. The Great Hall looked simply superb. It had been decorated for the Christmas Ball. The atmosphere was very happy.::
Posts, like the above one, show that the person behind them has not made an effort to exaggerate. People lose interest in reading such posts. The following post is a much better example of what a post should look like.
::Cho walked into the magnificient Great Hall, marvelling at the way it had been decorated. She sat down at the crowded Ravenclaw table, looking around at its gleaming walls with thick streamers of holly and mistletoe. The usual twelve Christmas trees added to the background. It was a sea of pointed black hats and black robes. All the poeple seemed to be gossiping happily about the Christmas Ball. Girls were excitedly discussing what they were going to wear for the ball. The professors, who were sitting at the High Table, also looked a bit excited, but were careful enough not to let any of their excitement seem too obious to any student. The atmosphere was extremely pleasant and soothing.::
This is a good example of a post; the beauty of the Great Hall and the excitement of its inhabitants is being exaggerated here. Such descriptions add a bit of colour to your post and make a good impression on the reader! If possible, try to make such posts most of the time,so that people like your descriptions. Have fun! ;D
