The scent of warm sugar cookies surrounds you as you walk into the humungous classroom. Candles litter the room casting a dancing glow on poorly lit things crammed into jars on shelves in the back of the room. In front of the class lies a large, heavy, wooden desk covered in inks in many colors, several rolls of parchment, quills, a wooden box with a carving of a dragon on it, a small sculpture of a coiled snake, a bowl of fruit, an hourglass, a small stack of old but impressive looking books, and a platter of cookies. Behind the desk is a rather comfortable looking leather chair and a set of shelves filled with books.
The massive, cold stone walls are covered with shelves stuffed with jars, canisters and bins of art supplies, snake skins, cutting tools, bone fragments, feathers, porcupine quills, tanned hides, clay, paints, glazes, pieces of wood, cat-gut & stones in many shapes and colors. The perimeter of the room is covered with indistinct instruments, bits of creepy sculpture and stacks of large old books. A massive wooden cabinet sits against one wall. Its front panel decorated with Latin letters, mystic symbols and an antique looking star chart. Light streams in from two large, uncovered windows.
A glance into the rear of the classroom provides a myriad of things to look at. An old painting of a creepy brooding man in a black robe, a carved wooden mask and a large intricately woven tapestry depicting a war hang on the walls. In one corner is a very huge statue of an anatomically correct, human-like creature with tentacles where hair should be, several mouths with many fangs, scaly skin, hands with talons, pointed vertebrae (like an iguana) and drooping breasts. In another corner is a sort of totem pole style sculpture carved in a tribal style with some African influence. It would include several faces and several animals. On a table nearby are two smaller statues with big round bellies and one smaller, but more detailed statue of a creature that resembles a cross between a bunny and a dwarf.
Above the door is a big, curved, carved wooden plaque with Latin writing on it; translated "Knowledge Is Power."
In the center of the room are several sets of two-person desks with chairs behind which lie storage cabinets of empty vials, jars and other supplies, several empty scrolls of paper on a shelf, a couch, a kiln, a pottery wheel and several stacks of books.
On the chalkboard is written:
