I can't wait for this movie to come out! Of course though, there is always the fear that the movie won't live up to the astounding greatness of the books.
If you haven't read them and can appreciate warped silliness then I wholeheartedly recommend that you read them ASAP!
Any other crazed fans like me? I want to join the VFD!

I don't read the books. I can't believe the boy doesn't wear any glasses in the movie! He wears them in the book!

I don't read the books. I can't believe the boy doesn't wear any glasses in the movie! He wears them in the book! I know! And the thing is that one of the books concentrates on him having glasses. I mean it's integral to the plot. How can they eliminate that from the movie? Though it's one of the later books.

I saw it and I agree that it was cool but... I know that it's too much to expect to love a movie after you've read the book since books always have more detail. I felt that the movie was rushed though. I was particularly impressed with the end credits, strangely enough. If you are a fan of the books you can see references to them in the end credit cartoons. Jim Carey was a good Olaf I think. Great costumes and amazing sets.
They showed his glasses only once at the beginning at the beach. I suppose that means that they can pull them out later when they need them (as long as they make sequals.)
